Porter Hall #100 (Gregg Hall)
Humanities Center Lectures: Media and Social Change
Leshu Torchin, 2012-2013 CMU Humanities Center Senior Research Fellow
In this talk, Professor Torchin will be discussing the ways in which films about the global economy have been contributing to the growing discourse of economic justice. Some of these films, Torchin will argue, can be used to advance the otherwise marginalised set of economic, social, and cultural rights that are a part of the Human Rights Charter. In this talk Torchin will be building on work she did in her most recent book, Creating the Witness: Documenting Genocide on Film, Video, and the Internet (University of Minnesota Press, 2012).
