Schatz Dining Room, University Center
The Center for Africanamerican Urban Studies and the Economy (CAUSE) cordially invites you to its 2013-2014 Speakers Series Opening Reception.
The lecture series opens in October with a talk by Professor Clement Alexander Price. Dr. Price chaired President Obama's transition team for the National Endowment for the Humanities and is currently the vice chair of the national Advisory Council on Historic Preservation. He will talk on African-American public history, memory, and place. Other lectures will cover such timely topics as the history of black women in the criminal justice system, African-American performance culture, and urban inequality and violence as a mode of social struggle. In addition to announcing our 2013-14 Speakers Series, we will use our fall reception to introduce our new Postdoctoral Fellow, new and established members of the campus community, and provide an update on CAUSE activities.
