Heinz College Convocation: The Changing U.S. Demographic

Sep 11, 2013
12:15 PM  - 1:15 PM
Hamburg Hall 1000

U.S. Department of Commerce Under Secretary for Economic Affairs Mark Doms will focus on U.S. population projections, showing that the rate of growth of the U.S. population is slowing, that our country is getting older (in interesting ways), and that our society is becoming more racially and ethnically diverse. Looking backward, our society has also faced increasing income inequality and an overall decline in the proportion of the population that has health insurance. All of these trends have implications for the demand and delivery of health services in the years to come. Doms will discuss these implications, with special emphasis on how the Affordable Care Act will affect health insurance coverage of our evolving population.
