Alumni Distinguished Achievement Honoree Lecture

J. Renato Iturriaga (S'64, '67), a recipient of an Alumni Association Distinguished Achievement Award, will give a talk titled "Systemic Approach to Complex Real Life Situations." Iturriaga will discuss a set of tools to analyze, modify and even reinvent a complex human organization. Born in Mexico City, he received both his master's degree in Mathematics and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from CMU. In the world of academia, he was professor at Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), where he founded and headed the Center for Applied Mathematics and Systems. In the corporate sector, he worked at Banamex, the largest Mexican bank. He has been an independent consultant as well as member of the board of directors of different private and public institutions. In the government, he has held executive positions in a number of Mexican government agencies.
